More About CKA.
CKA compete all over the country and abroad, we promote our own light continuous shows, which are professionally run with up to 200 fighters attending from across the UK.
We have social weekends away twice a year advertising the fact CKA is a family friendly club. We offer training for everyone from the fighter, to the person who just wants to get fit or to socialise, no pressure just enjoyment.
Pay as you train - we have no contracts or direct debits which is hard to find these days so better for the student, you train you pay, you dont train you keep your money - its that simple.
We compete under the BLCC, BIKMA, BKBU, WCF, IKF, ISKA, WAKO, Goldenbelt, WKMA.
CKA holds 32 titles at the moment for light continuous as well as full contact.
We have done seminars with the likes of Ronnie Green, we work very close with the ISKA and Neil Kelly the England coach.
I myself Pete Dunnett have completed referee exams under the ISKA, I have fought full contact and light continuous and achieved titles in both arts, I first started in wado ryu karate and moved to freestyle then onto kickboxing so we train self defence as well.
I am a level 3 coach and coach with a relaxed atmosphere, which I believe is why the club is so popular, what you see is what you get nothing hidden.
My background teachers were Peter Shaw and Ian Watson who I owe a lot.
I am CRB checked, Safe registered, qualified level 3 coach, first aided, health & safety qualified, child protection qualified, also my wife Mandy who is the secretary for CKA is fully first aided and child protection registered.
I have attended a club for all workshop, equity in coaching course, how to teach disabled people in sport, we have also been highly commended by St Edmundsbury sports awards for club of the year, coach of the year and my eldest son Lewis (2nd dan with well over 40 fights and 3 titles to his name) got highly commended young sports personality of the year.
We grade every 4 months and my gradings are hard but fair, my sons Leon and Lloyd are 1st dan and Lewis is 2nd dan blackbelt with 150 fights between them and have 9 titles between them, Lewis is also a level 1 assistant coach and is great with the juniors as well as the adults.
We are insured with the ISKA (International Sport Kickboxing Association) who themselves are insured under the RCSU (Ring Combat Sports Union), we have a child protection policy, code of practice, code of conduct for parents and carers, we have very close links to schools in the area especially Thurston community college where many of my students attend or attended in the past.
My competition I host 3 times a year is hosted at Thurston community college and brings in over 200 competitiors from across the UK including world european british english area champions. This competition is run very professionally with the referees and judges being very experienced. Students are only invited to grade if they have met the required standard and have done the required lessons, the strive for perfection is 100% CKA was only established in 2004 and have come so far in such a little time.
I put everything into my coaching as the standard of my students reflects on me and I can hold my head high knowing I have done my job well and will keep on doing so to promote CKA and the sport of kickboxing. Each and every member of CKA can confidently know they are given 100% of my time. Once the goal of blackbelt has been reached, your training does not stop it starts, as the plan is to make the new dan grades fully qualified.
As well as my big competition we host 4 small interclubs a year to help along the new student if they wish to compete, it is safe friendly relaxed and fun where everybody knows each other and vital experience is gained in the boxing ring, we have children as young as 5 years old up to adults in there 50s all competing in a safe environment.
All students are equipped with headguard, mouthguard, groinguard, shin guards, foot protectors and boxing gloves, to eliminate any injuries and for the youngsters there is no face contact, no competitor will compete without any of this vital safety equipment.
Here at CKA the unity of the club is unbelievable, something I have not witnessed anywhere in my 20 years experience. This is a very relaxed freindly club which can cater for everyones needs.
